The French Broad River in Asheville, NC has been fishing really well when the river has had some clarity. Smallmouth bass and nice rock bass have been chewing artificial lures all day long. The topwater bite has been good in the morning and evening as well. Recent trips have netted over 50 bass with a good handful of quality 15-18inch bass on each trip. The local bass don’t even seem to mind the countless tubers and paddle boarders that cross overhead each hour. We also offer trips on more scenic river sections with less “river traffic” for a more wilderness experience. We love to customize each fishing trip to exactly what your looking for. We offer both fly fishing and lite tackle spinning trips. August float trip dates are filling up quick, book your adventure with Slippery Friction Fishing guided float trips today!
On a recent outing we had to wait out a quick rain shower under a bridge. While sitting there I was taking to one of clients while his son continued to cast toward a nearby pool. Sure enough I heard him holler and looked back to see his rod bent over double, at the same time a nice smallie rocketed out of the water out in front of the raft. Sure enough… that bass turned out to be the biggest of the day and made for a really cool story to tell all his friends! Fish hard and never give up hope that the next cast will be amazing!!
